Complete six (6) hours of Continuing Education in Ethics within twelve (12) months of the April 3, 2014 Consent Order.  ADMINISTRATIVE FINE:  $7,500.00. ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS: $2,500.00.

Christopher Eric Reaves AND Orthotic Solutions                                8/26/13  Violations:   Code of Alabama (1975)§ 34-25A-6(a)(5) by engaging in gross negligence in the practice of pedorthics, in that, Christopher Eric Reaves allowed Aaron Anderson to see patients at Orthotic Solutions without supervision and/or during the absence of a licensed pedorthist; Code of Alabama (1975)§ 34-25A-6(a)(7) was violated, in that, Christopher Eric Reaves violated Board Rule 746-X-3.05 based upon any or all of the allegations above; Code of Alabama (1975)§ 34-25A-6(a)(8) was violated, in that, Christopher Eric Reaves violated Code of Alabama (1975)§ 34-25A-3(13) by providing a pedorthic device to a patient without the prescription of a licensed health care practitioner; Code of Alabama (1975)§ 34-25A-6(a)(7) was violated, in that, Christopher Eric Reaves violated Board Rule 746-X-3.05 based upon any or all of the allegations above. FINDINGS:   Administrative Fine - $2,500.00.  Complete two (2) additional hours of Continuing Education in Law, Regulation and Ethics by 12/31/13.                                             

Aaron Kealona Anderson:  8/26/13   Violations:   Code of Alabama (1975) §34-25A-6(a)(7), in that, Aaron Kealona Anderson violated Board Rule 746-X-3.04(c),(e), (g), (i) and/or (t) by seeing patients at Orthotic Solutions in Anniston, Alabama without supervision from and/or in the absence of a licensed pedorthist; violating Code of Alabama (1975) §34-25A-6(a)(7), in that, Aaron Kealona Anderson violated Board Rule 746-X-.03(1) and/or (2) based upon any or all of the allegations above; violating Code of Alabama (1975) §34-25A-6(a)(8), in that, Aaron Kealona Anderson violated Code of Alabama (1975) §34-25A-5(a) based upon any or all of the allegations above.   Findings  Pedorthist application for Licensure is granted and it shall be placed on probation of two (2) years effective August 26, 2013.  Complete two (2) hours of Continuing Education in Law, Regulation and Ethics by December 31, 2013   Administrative Fine - $1,000.00

2014 Renewals

The renewal for 2014 licenses and accreditations will begin October 1, 2013. You may access the Renewal Form from the web site beginning August 1, 2013.  For those licensees who did not submit a listing of CEUs with their 2013 LICENSE RENEWAL, the Board is requesting a listing of the licensee’s CEUs and hours credited during the licensee’s current national certification cycle with ABC or BOC.  For Assistants and Mastectomy Fitters, please refer below for annual CEU requirements.  As part of the license renewal process, the Board requires a listing of the licensee’s CEU’s and hours credited during the licensee’s current national certification cycle with ABC or BOC.  This is based on the following Board Rules:

For Prosthetists, Orthotists, Prosthetists/Orthotists and ** Pedorthists

Chapter 746-X-2-.07(2) states “A minimum of 75 hours of continuing education for single disciplines and a minimum of 100 hours of continuing education for dual disciplines is required for each five (5) year period for license renewal”.

** Pedorthists - The minimum number of hours as set forth by the national certifying board of the licensee.

For Prosthetist Assistants, Orthotist Assistants and Prosthetist/Orthotist Assistants

Chapter 746-X-5-.05(2)(a) Continuing Education Requirements for Licensed Assistants states “A minimum of six hours of continuing education for a prosthetic assistant, orthotic assistant, prosthetic/orthotic assistant, as approved by the Alabama State Board of Prosthetists and Orthotists is required annually for license renewal”.

For Mastectomy Fitters

Chapter 746-X-8-.05 Continuing Education for Mastectomy Fitters states “All licensed mastectomy fitters must certify that they have completed four (4) hours of continuing education for each calendar year. Two (2) of the required hours shall be in Alabama Law and Ethics”.

 ACT 2012-362 repeals the requirement for providing the Social Security Number for license renewal; therefore, beginning with the 2013 Renewals, Social Security Numbers will not be required. 

N O T I C E The use of video supervision IS NOT an approved method of treatment for O & P Consumers in Alabama.

Violation of such an act will be subject to disciplinary action by the Alabama State Board of Prosthetists and Orthotists.
